Exploring Fiber-Shed with Lisa Heinz<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

We\u2019re excited to welcome Lisa Heinz as our guest speaker. She will Introduce us to the concept of Fiber-Shed, a movement that connects fiber farmers, makers, and sustainability. She\u2019ll share why regional fiber systems matter, how they support the environment, and what choices we, as knitters, can make to be part of a climate-conscious future. Lisa will also bring locally sourced wool, display boards, and loads of knowledge to share with us. Be sure to bring your questions, and maybe a little cash, in case you need some beautiful wool to bring home. This promises to be and inspiring and eye-opening program you won\u2019t want to miss.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Needle Felting with Esther Bechler<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Learn all about needle felting- basic techniques, materials and tools, even a few surprising facts! Did you know you can needle felt cotton?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Looking for the perfect Christmas present? Then get your jingle bells on and join us for our meeting and mini workshop.
At the morning and evening meetings Ester Bechler, who is an extremely talented artisan, will bring us up to speed on the basic techniques, materials and tools of needle felting.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Felted Christmas Ornament WORKSHOP with Esther 1:00-4:00 pm<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Join us for an afternoon of hands-on learning to create your own felted Christmas ornament. All materials supplied- $25.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Esther will conduct a hands-on mini workshop to create a beautiful, felted Christmas ornament. Esther will pre-felt the base color of the ornament for you in your choice of red, blue or green and then she will instruct you on how to needle felt your own beautiful ornament. Base ornament, materials, tools and pattern are all included! We hope to have samples to show you at the October meeting where you can sign up for the workshop and pre-pay with cash or check payable to the Dayton Knitting Guild.

Holiday Gathering<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The Programs Committee has been busy planning a special holiday gathering just for you! Join us for a festive afternoon filled with good food, good company, and plenty of holiday cheer. This year, the Guild will provide a main dish with a vegetarian option and a dessert with a gluten-free option, all catered by Current Cuisine. Bringing food to share is completely optional \u2014 only bring something if you have the time and would enjoy contributing a dish you truly love or think others would, too! Enjoy live seasonal music and take part in a knitterly gift exchange. If you\u2019d like to participate, please bring a well-chosen gift ($20\u2013$25 range) \u2014 something you think most knitters would truly enjoy receiving. Aim for something thoughtful and high-quality rather than a filler or last-minute find.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Join us in January for a fun and hands-on knitting adventure as we explore the history and tradition of the\u00a0Chullo<\/strong>, the colorful earflap hat originating in the Andes. We\u2019ll take a quick look at where this iconic style comes from, how it\u2019s been used for centuries, and why it continues to inspire knitters around the world today.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Then it\u2019s needles up! We\u2019ll dive right into starting an earflap hat of our own using a simple top-down pattern suitable for a wide range of sizes\u2014from newborn to kids. There will be a couple of different colorwork motifs to choose from, so feel free to bring your favorite colors and make your hat uniquely yours.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
