When Eunice Powell died in December 2011, she left behind some wonderful hand knit lace shawls. She left instructions for the proceeds from the sale of these shawls to go to two of her favorite charities (Dayton Knitting Guild and Choices in Community Living – the organization provides group homes for people with mental retardation).
Her executor had the shawls appraised. We would like to try a silent auction with bidding to begin at 2/3 of the appraised value of each individual shawl. All bids should be emailed to our treasurer Mary Owens (firstname.lastname@example.org). The silent auction will begin October 1 and end October 31.

Original Orenburg knitted lace palentine (scarf); Eastern Star Motif. Materials: handspun cashmere, plyed with pure silk, then handknit in the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation. Currently valued at $350-$400 replacement value; due primarily to increase in costs of raw material and labor.
Minimum bid $250.
Orenburg style knitted lace shawl: materials scarf appears to have been handknit from a mohair or a mohair blended yarn. Presumably knit by Eunice Powell. Currently valued at $150.
Minimum bid $100.
Orenburg style knitted lace shawl: materials unknown. Pattern by Katie Nagorney & Ann Swanson – A Gathering of Lace by Meg Swanson, Presumably knit by Eunice Powell. Current value at $250-$300. Minimum bid $185.
Original Orenburg knitted lace palentine (scarf) – Traditional four-diamond motif. Materials cashmere plyed with pure silk, then handknit in the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation, origin circa 1995. Current value at $250s-$300.
